About

Healthy living, made findable.

We help every Michigan resident find free and low-cost food, nutrition, and physical activity programs — no matter where they live.

It pulls together listings from nonprofits, public health agencies, federally qualified health centers, schools, faith-based organizations, and tribal organizations into one verified source. Each program shows up to date information on schedule, location, language, cost, and how to register — so residents can find what fits their life, and organizations can reach the people they’re trying to serve.

The information exists. It’s just scattered across hundreds of websites, flyers, social posts, and word-of-mouth. A single mom in Ingham County looking for free family cooking classes shouldn’t have to call eight phone numbers to find out who’s offering them this month.

Behind Michigan Healthy Living

MHL is operated by the Michigan Fitness Foundation — a Lansing-based nonprofit that has worked on community wellness, nutrition education, and physical activity programming across Michigan for more than 30 years.

The portal is built and maintained as a public good, in partnership with public health departments, food banks, FQHCs, tribal organizations, and academic researchers across the state. Funding comes from a mix of federal nutrition education programs, state public health grants, and foundation support.

MFF runs the day-to-day moderation, data verification, and partner coordination that keeps MHL accurate. We’re a small team — usually responding within two business days.
